Dixie County Emergency Medical Services was incorporated in 1977 as a Basic Life Support service with one ambulance and two Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) on duty at any given time.

In the Mid 1980's the service upgraded it's level of care to Advanced Life Support (ALS), replacing one of the EMTs with a Paramedic.

Currently, we have a total of (6) six ALS ambulances and 1 ALS Engine working out of three rescue stations and one Fire Station in the County:   Station 1 is located at 387 NE 22nd Avenue Cross City.   It also serves as our supply center. Station 2 is located at 307 NE 349 Hwy Old Town. This is one of our higher call volume stations.   Station 3 is located in the First District area at 12756 NE 351 Hwy. Old Town. Engine 51 is a Advanced Life Support Fire Engine staffed with one Paramedic/Firefighter from Dixie County and one EMT/Firefighter from Taylor County. Engine 51 covers Jena and Steinhatchee.

We also have a scheduled Non-Emergency Scheduled Transport Service available through the Suwannee River Economic Council. Please call 352-498-5018 extension 22 for more information.

Our staffs of Paramedics and EMTs are trained to perform state of the art medical protocols to be able to save lives!
